ADA Hurt Disabled Workers
The Americans with Disabilities Act was passed in 1990. Acemoglu and Angrist show that disabled Americans were less likely to receive a job offer after the law went into effect. The higher two lines are non-disabled men and women (who did not experience a reduction in employment after the ADA), while the bottom tow lines are disabled men and women (who found their employment opportunities reduced).
